Y5 Weekly Update 12.6.26

Friday 12th June 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

What a great week. The children enjoyed Bikeability and learning all about staying safe on the roads. The trip to the Bridgewater Hall was a great experience, with the children listening to (and paying along with) the world famous Hallẽ orchestra. We’ve also done some great work on negative numbers in maths, and started our new English text – ‘King Kong’ by Anthony Browne!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Bikeability was really useful to help us stay safe.
  • We loved the concert on Thursday!
  • We're looking forward to June evening and raising money for the school.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they learned about road safety. .
  • Ask the children about Christian pilgrimage – can they remember any facts?

Looking forward:

Don't forget Father's Day shop money on Monday if the children wish to purchase something.

Next week, we welcome the children from South Africa. It is always such an amazing experience having them here and we can’t wait to meet them.

We’re really lucky to have Mr Cowell coming into school on Mondays to do some coding work with the children. Mr Cowell has recently completed a degree in this so his expertise will be invaluable for the children.

Inbetween, we will be carrying on with our English work based on King Kong, studying some local history, looking at Jewish pilgrimage and completing our negative numbers topic in maths.

Have a lovely weekend!
