Y6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 18th October 2019

Y6 - Friday 18th October 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Crewe Alex Tickets:  The Crucial Crew have given the pupils a free ticket (one adult and one child) for a football game at Crewe Alex.  However, this is for Tuesday 22nd October against Colchester and the ticket must be redeemed 24 hours prior to the game to be valid.  My sincerest apologies for not sending these home on Friday.  If anyone would like to collect their ticket during the day on Monday, they are on the Y6 teacher’s desk.  I (Mrs. Timmins) am also in school on Sunday until approximately 2:30pm.  If my car is there, please knock on the red door.  (Hopefully, you’ve had a message

Looking back:

It’s been a week of final preparations for our Exhibition next week – the excitement is building and we are so proud to show our work from this half term to you.  For our class, there will be displays from Mrs. Timmins, Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Benson – we hope you enjoy reading and looking at the various work we have prepared.

The Y6 also spent a fantastic afternoon with “Gizmobots” on Wednesday, and have worked on a whole school project to create some new “pupils” for our school.  We have also enjoyed an engagine and highly informative morning with the Crucial Crew (at Crewe) where the pupils spent some time with seven different groups including British Transport Police, The Canal and Rivers Trust and St John’s Ambulance.  They learned about keeping safe and what to do (and not to do) in certain situations.  We shall produce a piece about the event for the newsletter next week but there are lots of photos on the “Display Work Items” – on the Year 6 page for you to look at.

Once again, another jam-packed week for Goostrey’s Year 6 class.  We love it!

Letters issued Y6:

Auction of Promises – List of Activities – please do bid

Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Learning how to do the recovery position
  • Playing with our buddies – even though it rained
  • Decorating my illuminated letters
  • Printing our clouds
  • Finish my work to share with my family

Family discussion questions:

  • Can you put me into the recovery postion?  What does DR. ABC stand for? (Clue – it was from the St. John Ambulance talk)
  • What is the French for the classroom; the playground; the main entrance; the playing field?

Looking forward:

  1. Next week is our Exhibition week and we are so excited to share our work with you.  Please do enjoy reading the work we have prepared and enjoying the images we have created.  We are welcoming some extra visitors into school too – not that we’re giving that away just yet.  We of course break up on Thursday – it’s been a great first term.
