Year 1 we 9th February

Hi All,

We will continue to look at explanatory texts, the children are currently writing an explanation text about the mural. They’re writing how to create a mural in 5 steps and will be writing this week the significance of each of the panels.

In maths we will be continuing our work on looking at addition and problem solving with numbers to 20. We will look at always starting to count on from the bigger number. (commutative law) Using their knowledge of number bonds to 10 to find number bonds to 20.

The children have used ictgames and Topmarks addition games – if you get a chance to access them at home, they’re free and the children really enjoyed the chance to consolidate their addition skills on these games.

In the afternoons the children are going to working on their topic on mega structures, with some follow up work from their visit to Jodrell Bank.

Highlights for the children this week – Jodrell Bank

  • In the planetarium – watching the constellations moving cross the sky and looking at the animals.
