Year 2 15th February Looking Back and Forth

Friday 15th February 2018 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

This week the children have enjoyed a fun filled Maths afternoon with all the children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 taking part together. They worked together to learn about bar charts, programming bee-bots, using the computers to try out interactive maths games, investigated capacity and enjoyed a maths treasure hunt. Most of the activities took place outside, making the most of our lovely outdoor space. We have also written poems inspired by the Great Fire of London, using similes to great effect and created houses for a class display linked to this important event.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • “Being with my friends and with my teacher.”
  • “Writing poems.”
  • “I liked doing spelling because I am proud that I got them right.”
  • “I enjoyed reading because I got moved to new books.”
  • “I loved learning the times table rap.”

Family discussion questions:

  • What game did we play in PE?
  • What does capacity mean?

Looking forward:

  • Story writing
  • New topic – Florence Nightingale
  • Times tables quiz
  • World Book Day 7th March
  • Art Gallery 5th March 3 -6pm
