Year 2 Looking back and Forth 10.10.25

Y2 Friday 10th October 2025– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

This week we have written list poems including some fantastic descriptive language!  In maths, we have been comparing numbers using the  > and < symbols.  In science, we investigated how far a sneeze can travel.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked ripping paper for our collage work.
  • I liked the bit in The Incredible Book Eating boy when all the words get muddled up.
  • My highlight of the week was practising number bonds to 20.
  • My highlight was cutting out templates and today’s lunch.
  • My highlight was writing a list poem.
  • I liked balancing and dodging in PE.

Family discussion questions:

  • This week we talked about times when we should wash our hands. Talk about the times you wash your hands as a family and why it is important.

Looking forward:

Next week we will be publishing our writing and rehearsing our singing in preparation for Exhibition. In maths, we will be learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s. We also have free dress day for Cup U Like on Thursday.

Reminders

Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

PE is on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading, children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’.

Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.

Thank you for your support,

Mr Warhurst
