Y2 Friday 11th September 2026– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back: 

Well done Year 2 for another great week of learning!   In maths, we have looked at the different ways that the same number can be represented and we have thought of questions we would like to answer about the United Kingdom in geography. In science, we have discussed questions we have about how we can keep ourselves healthy.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked doing my Early Morning Work
  • My highlight was spending time with everyone!!

 

Family discussion questions:

  • Discuss any numbers that you see when you are at home or out and about. Are they in numerals or words or represented in a different way?
  • As a class we have discussed journeys. Talk to your child about any journeys they have been on. Are there journeys we do every day? Are there any special journeys you have been on?

 

  • Looking forward:

Next week we will continue our work on place value in maths and how to recognise tens and ones by using a place value chart. In English, we will explore the vocabulary in the our new text and learn the names of the seas and oceans surrounding the UK in Geography.

Year 2 Start of Year Parent Meeting Tuesday 15th September 5pm

  • PE is on fridays - Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Please record this in reading diaries we I can track their progress
