Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 12.9.25
Y2 Friday 12th September 2025– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
Well done Year 2 for another great week of learning! The adults have noticed the great vocabulary you have used in English and the effort you have put into all your learning. This week, we have investigated a mystery habitat and met the ‘Bog Baby’. In Maths, we have looked at the different ways that the same number can be represented and we have thought of questions we would like to answer about the United Kingdom in geography.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I enjoyed learning about the Bog Baby.
- I enjoyed doing phonics and spelling words.
- I enjoyed talking about healthy diets.
- My highlight of the week was doing French.
- I enjoyed making What makes good posters for different things.
- I enjoyed talking about good books.
- I liked reading The Incredible Book Eating Boy.
Family discussion questions:
- Discuss any numbers that you see when you are at home or out and about. Are they in numerals or words or represented in a different way?
- As a class we have discussed what makes a good book. Talk to your child about books you enjoyed as child and books you like now. Why do think they are good books?Looking forward:
Next week we will continue our work on place value in maths and how to recognise tens and ones by using a place value chart. In English we will explore more of the vocabulary in the Bog Baby and learn the names of the seas and oceans surrounding the UK in Geography.
Reminders
- PE is on Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Please record this in reading diaries we I can track their progress
Thanks for your support,
Mr Warhurst
