Y2 Friday 14th November 2025– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we have continued to explore our text,-A River- and used conjunctions to extend sentences. In maths, we have been learning to use our knowledge of number bonds to add and subtract from a multiply of 10.  We have also discussed the significance of Remembrance Day.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • My highlight was doing games in PE.
  • My highlight was when we did maths because we did partitioning in our maths quiz.
  • I enjoyed throwing a ball at a target in PE
  • My highlight was maths when we used number bonds to 10 to help us subtract.
  • My highlight was everything! X 8chn
  • I liked Phonics and learning about wr making r.
  • I liked learning about the division symbol x 2 chn
  • My highlight was history.

Family discussion questions:

  • In history we have been learning about different types of homes through history. When you are out and about can you spot any modern and older houses? How are they the same and different?

Looking forward:

  • Next week we will analyse the language features of a circular narrative, continue learning addition and subtract strategies and begin rehearsals. We will also look at the features of Celtic roundhouses.

Reminders

PE is on Fridays! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’.

Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Warhurst
