Y2 Friday 18th September 2026– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back: 

In maths, we have explored the different ways numbers can be represented and in English we have used conjunctions to join ideas in sentences. In geography, we have located the countries and capitals cities of the UK. We also had a wonderful day out at Chester Zoo!

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

• I liked doing English and writing about the Bog Baby.
• I enjoyed using base 10 in maths.
• I liked playing football.
• I liked talking about my favourite exercise in science x2 chn
• I liked partitioning numbers in maths
• I liked playing basketball
• I liked doing reading x 2chn
• I liked learning about the UK x 2chn
• I enjoyed learning about the seas around the UK.
• I enjoyed playing with my friends

Family discussion questions:

• Next week we will talk about why exercise is important for our bodies. What type of exercise do people in your family do? Do you exercise as a family?

Looking forward:

Next week we will continue to partition numbers in different ways in maths, retell the story of the Bog Baby in English and discuss what we might see on a journey around the UK.

PE is on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress
