Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 20th October

Y2 Friday 20th October 2023– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  What a busy week! This week we have cuddled cockroaches, stroked snakes and tickled tarantulas when we met the Bug Man. We have performed songs to parents and visited the school Exhibition. We have also found out how to get help in an emergency.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Maths – I have enjoyed counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
  • I enjoyed learning about first aid.
  • I enjoyed finishing the alphabet in handwriting.
  • I liked learning about how to call for help.
  • I have enjoyed playing with my partner
  • I liked singing and playing music at the  Exhibition.
  • I liked science because we were keeping our bodies fit.
  • I liked working with my learning partner– they helped me with maths.

Family discussion questions:

  • Discuss what your child enjoyed about the Exhibition.
  • Discuss what your child feels proud of this half term- is there a piece of work they feel particularly pleased with?

Looking forward:

Next half term we will be exploring a new story as a whole class during English lessons. In Maths, we will be starting to learn different strategies for addition and subtraction.

Reminders

PE will be on now be on TUESDAYS!. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to the 3 children who completed the challenge for the  first time this week and amazingly 9 children have completed the challenge for the second time!!!!) Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.

Thanks for your support
