Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 26.9.25

Y2 Friday 26th September 2025– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

In English, we have looked more closely at the features of finding narratives and begun to use these in our independent writing. In maths, we have explored the various ways we can flexibly partition numbers – not just into tens and ones.   In geography, we have been learning to name and locate the seas around the United Kingdom. We also had a great time at Forest School!!

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • My highlight was when we did geography- I liked learning about seas and countries.
  • My highlight of the week was when we did partitioning x 2 chn
  • My highlight of the week was using dragon sneezes in Forest School.

Family discussion questions:

This week we talked about Fairtrade Fortnight – can you find any packages with the Fairtrade logo on in your house?

Looking forward:

Next week we will continue writing our finding narratives and in maths we will be adding tens on a number line.

Reminders

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

PE is on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to the first 9 children to complete the challenge!) Please record your child’s daily reading in reading diaries so we can track their progress.

Thanks for your support,

Mr Warhurst
