Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 6th June 2025

Y2 Friday 6th June 2025– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  What a busy first week of half term we have had! In English, we have read a new text Rosie Revere Engineer and described the main characters. In maths, we have created tally charts and shown information in block diagrams. In Food Technology, we have identified where fruit and vegetables come from.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I have enjoyed learning about where fruit and vegetables come from x9 chn
  • I enjoyed playing football with my friends x7 chn
  • I enjoyed reading about Rosie Revere Engineer x 3 chn
  • I enjoyed playing with my friends
  • I liked making a ‘bug water pipe’ at playtime and got very muddy!
  • I liked doing RE.

Family discussion questions:

Next week we will start to look at the features of castles. Have you ever visited a castle as a family? What did you see? What was it like?

Looking forward:

Next week we will learn the features of an “invention narrative”. In maths, we will be learning about reading information in pictograms and in science, we will discuss food groups and what makes a healthy diet. We will also visit the Father’s Day Shop on Tuesday- please send any money to school in a labelled purse/wallet/envelope.

PE is on Fridays! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Well done to the 2 children that completed the challenge again this week. Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!

Have a great weekend,

Mr Warhurst
