Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 7.11.25
Y2 Friday 7th November 2025– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back: This week we have enjoyed our new text – The River and the lovely illustrations. In maths, we have explored related facts using the number bonds to 10 that we already know. In science, we have discussed objects and the materials they are made from.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I’ve enjoyed finding number bonds to 100.
- I enjoyed everything! X2
- I enjoyed looking at the maths symbol for multiplication in arithmetic.
- I enjoyed learning about expanded noun phrases.
- My highlight was learning the spelling rule in phonics
- I liked adding the suffix ‘ing’ in Phonics
- I enjoyed PE and kicking the ball at a target.
- I liked learning about the one-armed robot family in handwriting.
Family discussion questions:
How many different materials can you find around your house? Can you find any glass, brick, wood, plastic?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be looking closely at the features of our new text- The River and the language used by the author. In maths, we will begin to learn a range of addition strategies. In, history we will begin to discuss the types of homes used in the past.
Reminders
PE is on Fridays!. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Please record any reading at home in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
Thank you for your continued support,
