Friday 11th September 2026 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Thank you to all of the children in Class Three for our first great week together. My goodness have we worked hard. We’ve loved learning about so many sophisticated words and phrases in English and being introduced to our new book ‘Egyptology’. We have begun our Arithmetic Tuesday sessions, complete with our first against the clock times tables challenge – what a great start to that!!!We have also continued to extend our maths work to include numbers to 1000 as part of our place value skills – how very impressive.  We have shown what we know so far as we have completed our assessments and in Geography, we worked through our pre-learning, new vocabulary based on Africa and discovered the Equator and Hemispheres. Our first PE session saw Class 3 get into La Crosse skills and our first Science and French lessons with Mrs Riddell went extremely well too. We finished our week off with art work this afternoon, planning our work based on the book ‘We’re Sailing Down the Nile’ – What a week!!!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

Looking forward:

We will be starting our spelling and reading program this week and will be continuing with this each week going forward as part of our sentence accuracy work. Our arithmetic sessions will continue too, alongside learning our all-important times tables ready for our test on Tuesday! We will be working on our computing this coming week, finding out how to programme micro bits and in Geography, we will be learning about the Prime Meridian and how to write as a geographer. La Crosse skills will continue in PE, the owls are in school on Thursday afternoon and of course, we can’t wait for our first school trip to Chester Zoo on Friday! It’s all so exciting!!!

Just a quick reminder to all children to remember to bring a waterproof coat into school each day please. A few of us have been caught out this week. Especially need one for Friday’s trip please.

Homework Club starts this week – Tuesday until 4:10pm.
