Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 12/12/25
Friday 12th December 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
Our final piece of writing for our Jemmy Button book is coming on a treat this week and is almost complete. In maths, we have got to grips with the 3 times table and dividing by 3 which is great, have discovered all about the Transatlantic Slave Trade in history and in RE, we have researched how different religions and groups welcome a baby into the world. Many children have made fabulous progress in their reading too this week and I’m very proud of Class Three for their hard work. The children have been prepared for successful PE lessons starting after Christmas too this week and we’re hoping for great things! Finally, we have been a part of discussions about kindness and thinking of others this week and have adopted this as our class motto.
The highlights of the week though, have to be our visit to Santa - thank you to Mrs Maddock for organising this for us and to Santa for sparing the time when he’s so busy and our Christmas lunch – we were all beside ourselves with excitement for this special event and they were truly appreciated by all – thanks to all of the catering team!
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Santa visit
- Singing in Music preparing for Christmas
- Writing our brilliant Jemmy Button stories
- Christmas lunch and crackers
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- How do Humanists celebrate the birth of a baby?
- What does to reminisce mean?
- Challenge Question: What is the Transatlantic Slave Trade?
Looking forward:
Next week in year 3, we have an amazing final week before Christmas planned. We will be completing our research about The Slave Trade and writing a biography of Nelson Mandela in History, publishing our English work and revising our spellings in a test on Monday, showing what we can do in our Maths work ready for our assessments during the final few days, discussing the importance of Advent in RE and of course enjoying performing for our family and friends in our Christmas celebrations. We will finish our week off with our charity Elf Run, so please bring your donations by Friday!!!
Happy December everyone!
