Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 12/6/26
Friday 12th June 2026 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
What a rainy week we’ve had to contend with this week but we managed to finish with a fabulously sunny flourish and a brilliant June Evening – well done to all of the children for once again, putting on a great Summer Fair with a plethora of games and treats on offer. It always amazes me how innovative they are and how they work together and help each other is what being a part of our Goostrey family is all about. I can’t write another word though without thanking the marvellous Mrs Timmins whose brain child this event is. Thank you for your hard work to arrange everything which makes it all work so well! We have finally been able to do some maypole practise this week, having been rained on, thundered on and even treated to a lightning show from beneath our shelter – we thought the forces were against us but we came out smiling in the end. It’s beginning to look like a dance of some kind now so that great. We have enjoyed our new book in English and our text all about the fairground…we were on the edge of our seats! In maths we have completed our work on money and begun our unenviable task of telling the time and in PE, we gave jumping our best. History saw us complete our work on Boudica and the revolt and recorded our knowledge of the Three Invasions.
- June Evening!!!!!
- Maypoling!
- We have enjoyed starting our new class book.
- PE – working on long jump in PE!
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What can you remember about telling the time?
- What happened to the boy in ‘Into The Forest’?
- How many times did the Romans try to invade Great Britain (Britannia) and who eventually conquered?
Looking forward:
Next week, we have another extremely exciting week planned as we welcome our visitors from South Africa to our school – literally can’t wait to see them and share our school lives with them. We will also begin to practise our dance very seriously as show time is almost upon us, we will be discovering more about the Romanisation of Britain in History, beginning to write our own lost narrative in English, continuing with athletics in PE, working on angles, lines and shape in maths and completing our work on volcanoes and earthquakes in Geography!
Thanks for a great week everyone!
Mrs Sant
