Year 3 Looking Back and forth 19/6/26

Friday 19TH  June 2026 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

What a FANTASTIC week we’ve had this week! Speaking of fantastic…, of course we have something else potentially fantastic next Saturday and we’ve practised so hard this week and have done our maypole dance correctly once so far so things are looking up! Fingers crossed for more fine weather next week so we can perfect it. In English, we have planned for and written our opening paragraph of our lost narrative, in maths, we have discovered angles and have added knowledge of turns clockwise and anti-clockwise to our repertoire. We have continued with our work on Boudicca and the rebellion in Roman times in history, recorded our final piece of learning about earthquakes, done lots of reading of course, experimented with rocks in Science and have continued with athletics in PE.

  • We’re loving the maypole now!
  • Seeing the sun a little more
  • Working on lines, angles and shape in maths
  • Writing our lost narrative in English
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is an angle?
  • Who is Boudicca and what did she achieve?
  • What were the rock experiments all about in Science?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be working very hard to prepare for our Rose Day performance – only 5 days to go! We will also begin writing paragraphs 2 and 3 in English, work on perpendicular and parallel lines in maths, working on revision of volcanoes and earthquakes in Geography, more Rocks and Soils in Science, more collage techniques in art and athletics in PE. Finally, we will be working on Roman roads in History.

Thanks for a great week everyone!

Please remember your maypole outfits by Tuesday…Wednesday at the very latest!!!
