Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 22/5/26
Friday 22nd May 2026 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
What an exciting week it’s been this week – the highlight of which was our wonderful sports afternoon on Thursday. What a fantastic effort the children put it and it was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed themselves. We would like to thank Mrs Flint and Mrs Murdoch for organising the event and for making it such a lovely thing to be part of – thank you. We have also been working hard to practise fractions of amounts in Maths this week and in English, we have impressed with our fables about Fox, Dog and Magpie which are now complete and published which is fabulous too. Science was all about how plants disperse their seeds and Geography was looking at why people choose to live near volcanoes! In history, we completed our research into what Britannia was like before the Romans invaded and why they wanted to come to Britain in the first place. We have finished the week off with our very enjoyable Marble Jar Treat – a well-earned afternoon – well done Class 3!Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Sports Day has made the top spot this week!
- Enjoying the sunshine at last!
- Playing on the field again.
- Marble Jar Treat!
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- Can you explain how to find 3/5 of 35?
- What are the three reasons people might choose to live near to a volcano?
- How do plants disperse their seeds?
Looking forward:
Our first week back looks great as we move onto looking at money in maths, maypoling our little socks off, being introduced to our final new book in English, looking at earthquakes in Geography, looking at The Roman Army in History, athletics in PE, beginning rocks and soils in Science, looking at the story of Zacchaeus in RE and reading, times tables and spellings as usual.
Have a lovely Half Term Break and stay safe and well!!!
