Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 25/9/26

Looking back:

Well thankfully, this week has been blessed with a mixture of sunshine and showers and so we’ve had plenty of fun outside. We’ve had another good week this week, and our attitude to listening and learning has improved with every day which is marvellous. We have been busy with reading quizzes, learning about significant events in African history and we loved our forest school session with Mr Hadfield. We worked on dodgeball skills in PE whilst some of our class were taking part in another sporting event in Holmes Chapel and we earned ten marbles for our excellent behaviour. We almost finished our Place Value work in Maths, wrote our ideas for our Egyptian Mystery in English and we’ve ended the week with a lovely art session looking at sketching techniques which we all really enjoyed.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Dodgeball in PE was great earning 10 marbles!!
  • Loved art and drawing our illustrations
  • LOVED Forest Schools making animal shelters and roasting our marshmallows
  • Fish and chip Friday – yummy!!!
  • Seeing my teacher
  • Playing with friends

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • When comparing numbers, which digit do we look at first?
  • What do animals need when building an enclosure?
  • Challenge Question: How can we tell the reader it’s dark without actually saying it’s dark? What is this technique called?

Looking forward:

Next week will be the start of many pieces of work to begin our Exhibition extravaganza! Without giving too much away, we will be constructing, painting, drawing, writing, singing and much, much more! We will also be writing our own mystery narrative in English, reading quizzes, adding and subtracting in maths, La Crosse in PE and Timelines in history.

Just a quick reminder to all children to remember to bring a waterproof coat into school each day please.

Homework this week will be given out on Monday 28th September, due to half the class being elsewhere today and it is due in on Thursday 1st October 2026 please.

Thank you again for a wonderful week and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sant
