Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 30/1/26

Friday 30th January 2026 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

What a hard-working week it’s been for us all and the children have been as wonderful as ever – well done and thank you Class Three. We have concentrated on multiplying 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers in maths and using the inverse to calculate division. We have done a good job planning and preparing for our Iron Man threat narrative in English and our reading comprehension works is working so well now. In history, working on Great British Inventors is fantastic and we have learned so much already and we have continued to find out more about the Islamic faith in RE. In Science, we worked on contact and non-contact forces and in art has gone well today painting in the style of impressionists. Finally, we had a really wonderful dance session in PE, dancing to ‘The Circle of Life’ – what a performance. Who knew we had such creative dancers in our midst?

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Dancing to ‘Circle of Life’ from The Lion King!
  • Drawing and painting like Monet
  • Checking out the Book Fair!!!
  • Learning about the magnetic forces in Science
  • Reading more of The Iron Man story
  • Times table challenges
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is the rhyme to remember when multiplying big numbers?
  • What do magnets do?
  • Challenge: What does chronological mean?

Looking forward:

What a week it’s been this week! Next week, we will complete our Iron Man writing in English, begin dividing by big numbers in maths and work shopping multiplication and division methods, begin our George Stephenson writing in History, quiz on our learning in Geography, discover The Night of Power in RE, develop our dance in PE, paint like Matisse in art, practise spellings, times tables and handwriting as usual and of course enjoy the Book Fair!
