Year 4 - Looking Back and Forth 5th May 2023

Friday 5th May– Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week we have continued to look at the book the Lost Happy Endings in class.  We have met the Witch, now she is now at particularly nice character!  The children have written similes and metaphors to describe her.  They let their creative juices flow and they produced some wonderful descriptions.    We also read a twisted fairy tale ending for Snow White.  The children are excited at the prospect of creating their own twisted narratives.  In maths, we continued to look at fractions, converting mixed numbers to improper fractions.  Timestables have come in very handy with these.

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What is a numerator?
  • What is a denominator?
  • What is a mixed number?
  • What is an integer?
  • What is an improper fraction?
  • What does the word deceit mean?
  • What does the word entice mean?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • Drawing club
  • TTrockstars
  • PE with Mr Biggs
  • Maths working on fractions
  • Coronation carousel of activities on Thursday afternoon
  • The picnic on the field
  • Getting a bookmark and a coronation mug
  • Band

Looking forward:

This week, the children look at speech marks and looking at what makes character seem evil or good?

In the afternoons,  the children will begin their topic on Europe as well as exploring databases in computing and science.

Homework in Year 4
