Year 4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 5th June
🔙 Looking Back – This Week in Year 4
This week, we began a new book in English. The children spent a lot of time puzzling over a series of clues linked to the story. These included a suitcase, teddy bears, a scarf, gloves, a hat, a family photograph, a torch, a passport, a life jacket and a roll of money.
From these clues, the children inferred that the story might involve a family travelling in a hurry, possibly at night to avoid being discovered, and perhaps escaping by boat.
It was an incredible session, watching the children respond to the clues and build on one another’s ideas. They challenged suggestions, generated new theories and carefully considered the views of others. AWESOME!
We also enjoyed our David Attenborough-themed afternoon, where the class worked alongside pupils from across the junior school on activities celebrating David Attenborough and his passion for our amazing world.
On Friday, the class completed the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). They took it all in their stride and seemed to genuinely enjoy the experience. We were very proud of their positive attitudes and the consideration they showed towards one another.
In Maths, we have started learning about decimals. We discovered that thinking about decimals as money makes them much easier to understand!
