Looking Back – This Week in Year 4

Year 4 have had a busy and exciting week!

• ✅ The children completed their MTC (Multiplication Tables Check) with focus and calm.

• ➗ In maths, they explored tenths as decimals and wrapped up work on fractions.

• 🏊‍♂️ They enjoyed swimming – like true Goostrey dolphins!

• 📖 In English, they’ve been working on their twisted fairy tales, including an alternative version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Questions to ask your child at home:

• What was the MTC like?

• What is a tenth as a decimal?

• How are decimals like money?

• What has happened so far in your twisted fairy tale?

• The egg experiment in Science

• Reading (Harry Potter is a class favourite!)

• Lunchtimes with friends

Homework this Week

• ✍️ English – Split speech

• ➕ Maths – Unit 17 white sheet

• 📚 Reading – At least 15 minutes daily
  ➤ Don’t forget Accelerated Reader quizzes!

• 🎵 TTRockstars – Ideally 10 mins daily, minimum once for 20 mins

• 📝 Spellings – Test on Wednesday (little and often works best!)

• ✏️ Please use pencil or blue/black pen – no felt tips, thank you!

• 🔢 Times tables – All times tables this week

📬 Homework can be handed in any time before Friday – children know where the basket is.

• 📖 Please record reading in the reading record and ensure it's brought to school each Friday.
