Year 5 24.5.19 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 24th May 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

It was great to see so many of you at the Year 5 class assembly. It was lovely to see the children taking such pride in reading out their work to such an appreciative audience. Unbelievably, it is the end of the first half of the summer term! We still have lots of great things to look forward to in the last seven weeks - Bike-ability, Sports Day, Come and Play at the Halle, Eco-Day, June Evening...and so much more!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved presenting our work to parents in the class assembly.
  • We like learning about Athens and Sparta.
  • We really enjoyed writing our Minotaur Raps.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • How they felt reading out their work.
  • To tell you about their rapping poetry.
  • About the differences between Athens and Sparta in Ancient Greece.

Looking forward:

After half-term, we will be completing our performance rap poetry work, looking at the fantastic poem ‘Gran can you rap?’. In maths, we will be exploring the properties of a rectangle, before moving on to percentages. In our science work, we will be looking at the life cycles of mammals and insects.

Come and Play at the Halle Concert – Parent Information:

Fly to the moon, be challenged to a duel in the stars and dance on the Planet Zog – our 2019 programme is celebrating 50 years since Man first landed on the Moon!

The Love Music Trust is delighted to once again be working in partnership with Hallé Education to give the young musicians of Cheshire East the opportunity to 'Come and Play with the Hallé'! This year's concert features a wide range of music from the classical and modern orchestral repertoire.

The children will be taking part in the annual ‘Come and Play with the Hallé’ concert at the Bridgewater Hall on Thursday 20th June starting at 1.30pm. I will be sending out a letter/consent form giving further details next week.

The concert will feature more than 1,200 children from across Cheshire East, performing with the Hallé as part of their Wider Opportunities programme.

Parents are welcome to join us at the concert. To purchase tickets (priced at £8) and hear your child performing alongside one of the world’s leading orchestras in one of the finest concert halls in the UK, please visit the link below.
