Year 5 7.6.19 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 7th June 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

It’s great to be back and the children have had hard working week. They did really well exploring shape in maths. They also wrote some rap poems based on ‘Gran, can you rap?’ and they have really enjoyed performing what they produced; some children even performed theirs in Friday assembly!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed doing athletics in PE.
  • We liked looking at ancient Greek evidence to see what we could learn about their way of life.
  • We really enjoyed writing our raps.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What they learned about the internal angles of a triangle.
  • To tell you about their rapping poetry.
  • To tell you what the three different types of mammals are.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be moving on to look at percentages in maths. In science we will be looking at the life cycle of insects and amphibians. In our history work, we will be exploring the life of an ancient Greek hoplite.

Come and Play at the Halle Concert – Parent Information:

Fly to the moon, be challenged to a duel in the stars and dance on the Planet Zog – our 2019 programme is celebrating 50 years since Man first landed on the Moon!

The Love Music Trust is delighted to once again be working in partnership with Hallé Education to give the young musicians of Cheshire East the opportunity to 'Come and Play with the Hallé'! This year's concert features a wide range of music from the classical and modern orchestral repertoire.

The children will be taking part in the annual ‘Come and Play with the Hallé’ concert at the Bridgewater Hall on Thursday 20th June starting at 1.30pm. I will be sending out a letter/consent form giving further details next week.

The concert will feature more than 1,200 children from across Cheshire East, performing with the Hallé as part of their Wider Opportunities programme.

Parents are welcome to join us at the concert. To purchase tickets (priced at £8) and hear your child performing alongside one of the world’s leading orchestras in one of the finest concert halls in the UK, please visit the link below.
