Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 16th November 2018

So, here we are again - Friday certainly comes around far too quickly, but we've been working hard this week so we have lots to reflect on once again.

English has seen us writing newspaper reports based upon "The Highwayman"  whilst using this text to help with our guided reading.  Shape has been the maths focus this week - we've looked at various 2D shapes, their names and properties.  On Monday, we looked at part of the "They Shall Not Grow Old" film to complement our World War 1 writing and we have also furthered our knowledge and understanding of electricity.  Just a note to say that Premier Sports have decided to continue with basketball on Fridays now, rather than tag rugby.  Could families and pupils please ensure that they have outdoor kit and trainers, suitable for lessons on the playground.  Thank you.

Thank you for helping to ensure that the pupils all had their homework diaries in school today.  Their faces were expectant as we checked who had them on their desks in front of them.  The tension mounted and there was quite a little bit of excitement when they realised there was a full house.  This means that their marble jar is full and they have earned a reward.  A page has been set up for their suggestions but the pupils must log in first.  It's their choice and - within reason - we'll accommodate.

Please, could we remind families that we are supporting the Toy Appeal this year, together with the Christmas Shoe Boxes?  Leaflets have come home this week (Monday for Toy Appeal and Friday for Shoeboxes).  If your child didn't collect a leaflet, there are some still available from Mrs. Timmins.  We are proud to be supporting these appeals this year.  Thank you for your interest and support too.

We look forward to meeting with you at parents' evenings next week.

Kind regards

The Year 6 Team
