Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 21st September 2018

Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 21st September 2018

This week, our class has begun to delve deep into our work towards the Exhibition 2018 - "Peace".  They have each created a soldier in our English lessons and these are developing now into family men who have enlisted to fight for their country in World War 1.  On Thursday, the pupils were brilliant as they respectfully handled and read letters from 1918 which were written by Thomas William Wells to his sweetheart back home, Maud Burgess (Mrs. Timmins' grandparents).  The children are now planning to write their own letters which we shall be keen to share with you soon.

Mrs. Cooper has worked on their knowledge and understanding of some of the main battles from the time including Passchendaele and The Somme.  Premier Sports are currently working on a dance routine, and Mrs. Fitzhugh continues to work on developing their science and RE topic work.  It was quite dark at one point - shadows and measuring involved.

We are aiming to make sure that the pupils are taking responsibility for having their homework diaries in class.  These should be brought to and from school each day, but are checked and signed on a Friday by Mrs. Timmins.  The pupils should also be reading outside of school and this should also be recorded on the relevant pages.  All of this could earn the pupils lots of house points for their teams and so we would appreciate having these in school on a regular basis.

Let's have 30 - signed - homework diaries in on Friday, please Year 6.

The pupils were also issued with their passwords for the school website and we have asked them to try to log in this week to check they can access any homework which might be set for them.

As ever, if you need anything, please do contact us.

Kind regards

Mrs. Timmins & Mrs. Cooper
