Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 19th September 2025

Y6 – Friday 19th September 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

A full week of tasks has whizzed by – why not check out our 70 (yes, 70!!) photos to see what we’ve been up to. We have continued to read and enjoy Clive King’s ‘Stig of the Dump’ alongside describing and designing our own items to go into his den.  Maths has seen us complete our Place Value topic too.  On Monday, the class mixed English and history and created an archaeological dictionaries, and this was followed by a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon making Mesolithic dwellings.  Despite the rainy morning, their ‘settlement’ was an excellent recreation and much fun outdoors was had.  We are discussing online safety in class, and looking at the theme of self image.  Friday afternoon saw us enjoy our tag-rugby with Mr Frost and we rounded off the week with an exciting visit to see our new reception pupils.  Buddy time is coming……………………………

Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • HH Building our dens
  • FH PE – tag rugby
  • MS Using the laptops and headphones in maths
  • TB Looking at the creation stories for RE
  • LL Beginning our hat history
  • IB Listening to ‘Stig of the Dump’

Family discussion questions:

  • Tell me about the creation stories you have been learning about.
  • What does the word ‘integer’ mean?
  • Talk to me about the idea of ‘self image’ when thinking about keeping safe online

Looking forward:

  • It’s individual photos next Thursday. We’ll continue with our work towards the Exhibition and will update with lots more photos, too.
