Y6 – Friday 21^st April 2023 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

Our summer term welcomed the pupils back and before we knew it, our first week in school has whizzed past.  We have enjoyed lots of activities this week and we’ve been learning about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; completed our top ten facts about the different early historical periods; studied the circulatory system; revised for our upcoming assessments; calculated internal angles within a range of polygons; enjoyed practising our cricket skills; and enjoyed playing with our buddies on Friday. On Wednesday, we welcomed three students from Holmes Chapel Comprehensive who taught us more about our ICT work – that was a great session.

• What is the sum of the internal angles in the following polygons: triangle, quadrilateral. How might we use triangles to help calculate the sum of the internal angles in a pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon and a dodecagon?  How many sides does each one of these shapes have?
• What did you learn about in RE this week?
• Can you give me three of your top ten history facts?
• Which of the human rights did you specifically work on this week – which one did you illustrate and what does it focus on?

Looking forward:

• We are continuing our revision for SATs next week as our assessments draw a little closer. We will also be enjoying a range of tasks across the curriculum.
• 3:25-5:00pm on Thursday 27th April - you are invited to pop into the classroom to enjoy looking at your child's books.
