Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 24th March 2023

Y6 – Friday 24th March 2023 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

This week, the children have enjoyed looking at pie charts in maths, moving onto a revision session about angles in maths; English involved meeting new characters and writing narrative extracts too.  The Beaker people was our focus for history and we looked at a story “Love You Forever” for our No Outsiders work too.  We rounded the week off with a session on hockey and a meet-up with our buddies.  Only one more week to go, then its Easter – hard to believe where the time is going.

Letters issued Y6:

No specific letters this week

Family discussion questions:

  • What are the sizes of the following angles: acute, right, straight, obtuse, reflex, full turn?
  • Can you recognise the determiners in the following sentence? There are four categories of determiners.  Can you recall them?

The girl with six sweets lives in the 3rd house on Main Road where there are many trees in her garden.  These trees are taller than those in the back garden.

  • What type of word comes after a determiner? What if that word is not there? What does the determiner then become?
  • What can you tell me about “Love You Forever”?

Looking forward:

  • We are completing some of our studies for the spring term and we will be completing a full set of practice SATs test towards throughout the week. There will be no buddies on Friday as our Reception class are welcoming their grandparents for the annual tea party.
  • From Friday 21st April, pupils may wear their leavers’ hoodies for the full day on Fridays.
