Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 27th February 2026
Y6 – Friday 27th February 2026 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
It was great to welcome our pupils back on Monday and to hear that they’d all enjoyed the half term break. We were straight into our lessons and this week, we have enjoyed finding out about our new text for English, “A Story Like the Wind” by Gill Lewis. We are revisiting the maths topic of area & perimeter with a view to taking this into a ‘third dimension next week. Our afternoons have been exciting with lots of “State Bakes” making their way into class – DELICIOUS! Thank you for all the effort, hard work and baking that goes into these – it’s great to see such enthusiasm. We have also been studying The Great Lakes and Chicago; continued with My Happy Mind; studied coding with ‘A Genie in the Bottle’; and considered online digital safety.
On Thursday afternoon, we welcomed Katie Percival into our class. Katie is a milliner from the Kinderton Hat Studio in Byley. It was really exciting to speak with a professional hat-maker and Katie spent time explaining materials, the process, tools, and hat-making ideas with our class. It was a privilege to listen to her and when the chat was complete, we were allowed to model some of her amazing designs. There are some great photos on the website – can you spot your child under the hats? A huge “Thank You” to Katie for taking time out of her day to come and visit us. We really enjoyed listening to her.
Please do visit the "Display Work Items" tab and take a look at our weekly photos. Thank you.
