Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 28th November 2025
Y6 –Friday 28th November 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
Another month has disappeared quickly in Year 6 – it’s flying by so we must be having fun. We’ve lots of photos this week to share on our “Display” page – do enjoy spotting your child and seeing what they’ve been up to this past week. We have completed our discovery narratives for English and are in the process of editing these together. Our fraction work in maths has almost been completed – just one more day to go. In the afternoons, we have worked outside to – quite literally – smash rocks. There are mushrooms in our windowsills but don’t panic, our classroom isn’t going mouldy! We have continued to think about, and discuss, online relationships – this is well worth chatting to your children about to see what they have learned. We’ve considered the Holy Trinity in RE and due to the (sudden) windy wet weather on Friday, we enjoyed dodgeball in our junior hall. Our buddies rounded off a lovely week in Year 6.
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- JB Smashing rocks
- JA Buddytime
- HN Writing our stories
- TB PE
- LM Blooket
- IHA Studying the mushrooms
- GH Drawing the Trinity symbols
- IB Having a choice in the homework task
- TB Practising fractions in maths
Family discussion questions:
- Can you explain why you were smashing rocks. “What” were you trying to extract from “what”? There are two key words you need to remember?
- Why have you been studying mushrooms? What can you recall about the point of placing them around the classroom? What are you expecting to happen?
- Explain the online relationships lesson to me? What have you been chatting about?
Looking forward:
- We are looking forward to writing new texts for English next week and we’ll be looking at a new topic for maths. Our observations for science will be interesting and we’re hoping that we will be able to enjoy PE outdoors this week!
- PTA Film Night on Friday evening – 5th December
- Early notice! We’ll be visiting the Christmas shop on Wednesday 10th December – please send your child in with their money in a named envelope/purse? Thank you
