Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 6th June 2025
Y6 – Friday 6th June 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
It was great to have the class back on Monday and to see them ready to go with their final half term in Year 6. Hopefully, they’ve begun to learn their lines for the play – we are working on this a little each day and we’ll soon crack this. This week, the class has been introduced to our new class book “Impossible Creatures” by the fabulously talented author, Katherine Rundell. In addition, we’ve been looking at packaging cakes and teddies for maths, so that they don’t either float in their boxes, or get squished. We have looked at the heart, for science, and used various foodstuffs to create our own ‘blood’. Micro-bits was exciting too, whilst it’s been fun to have swimming sessions. We have begun to design our own hats, and on Friday we enjoyed PE and buddies to finish off a great week.
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- CT – English
- AC – Reading our scripts
- IG – Swimming
- LW – PE
- FB – Hat designs
- TE – Wearing our hoodies
- AC – Arithmetic
- ZL – Minecraft Club
- ZW – Microbits
- LW – Buddies
Family discussion questions:
- Tell me what creature you have been writing about. What does it look like, where does it live and what does it feed on?
- What have you learned about the heart and what did the different foodstuffs represent in your own “blood” with Mrs Cowell?
- Describe your hat design to me (will I need to buy ribbons, bows, or other embellishments?)
Looking forward:
- We are looking at the next part of our story to see what Christoper, Frank & Mal get up to. The swimming will continue at some point throughout the week. We’ll be making boxes in maths and then visiting the Mother’s Day shop on Monday afternoon.
- Free dress day on Thursday 12th June – in exchange for sweets for Cup-U-Like for Rose Day (no chocolate please).
