Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 9th January 2026
Wishing all our families a very happy new year. 2026 is going to be an exciting time for our Year 6 with lots of opportunities to come and changes ahead. It was so lovely to be able to welcome every pupil back on Monday morning – despite the wintery conditions. The excitement of the fresh snow filled the classrooms and playground and the children had a wonderful (if a little chilly) time making snow statues. We have begun our new book for English – “Shackleton’s Journey” and his journey to, and across, Antarctica – it fitted brilliantly with our weather. Each pupil has been given a significant role on board – if you haven’t heard about it, ask them for their crew member’s name and what their role is on board. Ratio has been a focus for maths whilst hats and milliners were researched on Thursday. On Monday, the class discussed online bullying – a very important theme. The city of New York is a central focus for our afternoon work and we have begun to look at the different boroughs and the city itself. Gymnastics completed the week and a lovely session to see our buddies again. Thank you for your support and let’s enjoy a fantastic 2026 together!
