Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 9th May 2025

Y6 – Friday 9th May 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

Our weeks seem to be flying past too quickly and Fridays are here before we know it.  This week, we’ve been enjoying the warm weather, and the class has really relished being on the field for lunches.  In the classroom, our focus has been on finalising prep for next week, but also ensuring that we have continued to balance this with engaging practical tasks.  We have been working with Microbits for our IT studies; designed our night-light prototypes; conducted light experiments in class (thanks to our wonderful blackout blinds); enjoyed listening to our visitor on Thursday – a Buddhist monk who chatted with us; relaxed with Mrs Riddell during a Yoga session; quizzed on grammar, earning many, many marbles; and of course, finished our week with a sunny buddy session.  Finally, we began to take a look at the photos of Willersley Castle.  Blink, and it will be upon us!  Also, keep eyes and ear peeled for an announcement about our end-of-year show!  So much to look forward to!

All of that in only four days!

Looking forward:

  • We are ready to sit our tests next week in a calm and collected manner from Monday to Thursday – a timetable of the days, and what the pupils may bring into school, was issued via email on Thursday and by paper copy of Friday. We know that we are collected and will tackle these with aplomb.
  • On Friday, we will enjoy a little celebration in the afternoon to mark the end of the tests – we’ll chat with the class about this on Thursday. Nothing major – just some time to chill.

On Friday, pupils are invited to wear green items of clothing to makr World Conginital Disorder of Glycosylation Awareness Day.  We look forward to seeing all shades of green!
