YR 1 Looking Back & Forth

What a great first week back we have had in year 1! 

Looking back:

  • We learnt 3 new sounds this week in phonics!

  • We started our new story in English: Where the Wild Things Are - we learnt about verbs and wrote some super poems. 
  • We learnt how to measure using centimetres in maths. 

Highlights:

  • We enjoyed using oil pastels, charocoal and soft pastels in art to experiment with different types of lines. 
  • We learnt all about birds and fish in science. 
  • We have enjoyed reading the new books in our reading area. 
  • We had fun measuring different objects in our classroom. 

 

Looking forward:

  • Next week we will start to look at weight and mass in maths.
  • We will explore hoe artists could use music as a stimulus. 
  • We will start our new science topic and learn about all things insects!
  • We will continue to learn about Neil Armstrong in more detail.
