Yr 4 24th May - Looking Back and Forth

Friday 24th May  2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

What a great last week, we finished our Butterfly Lion ‘Lost Chapters’.  These are now up on display.  Some of the pieces maybe a little tricky to read because of the layout of the classroom.  But the display looks stunning and a real celebration of the class’s hard work.  We then worked briefly on limericks, looking at some of the limericks of Edward Lear.  The children created a class one – then had a Limerick challenge for homework.

In maths we looked at decimals and multiplying and dividing numbers by 10 and 100.  The children were encouraged to use a place value chart to support them in getting the correct answer.

We completed our Fountains Abbey work as well, which has also been put up on display in the classroom and cloakroom.  The children started to look at Europe as a continent, the climate and area, also identifying the countries in Europe and their capital cities.    On Friday the children looked at Cheshire landmarks and classified them as physical or human features.  On Wednesday in science we had a ‘gross’ lesson, looking at what happens after we eat, using rice cakes, tights, and paper cups  we plotted the journey through the digestive system - Blue Peter would have been proud!
