Friday 26th April – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, the class have been exploring the new book and the characters.  We have looked at creating similes and metaphors for the witch character, as well as looking at possessive apostrophes.  In maths, the children have been working on fractions, and in particular fraction number lines and improper fractions.

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What is a simile?
  • What is a metaphor?
  • What is an improper fraction?
  • What is a mixed number?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • E. – dance
  • Writing similes and metaphors for the witch
  • Anglo-Saxon 3d throne designs on the computer
  • Coating the brooches in PVA
  • My Happy Mind – looking at how to do Active Listening in school and with our friends

Looking forward:

This week,  the class will be; learning to beatbox, understanding why the Vikings had such a bad rep, exploring travel in French, learning about Islamic Aid, exploring human teeth!
