Yr 4 Looking Back and Forth - Including the topics for next half term

🔙 Looking Back – What a wonderful exhibition.

We are so proud of the class and all of their hard work.

💬 Ask at Home

Why not continue the learning at home by asking your child:

  • What was the piece of work you enjoyed completing the most?
  • What piece are you most proud of?
  • What was your favourite experience throughout the Exhibition – Bidlea Farm Mr and Mrs Brown, Asha refugee assembly, Yoga, Pigeon Man Performing for families or the Alpacas?

🔜 Looking Ahead – Half Term in Year 4

  • We look forward to seeing you all after half term, when we will begin a number of new topics.
  • Maths – Addition and Subtraction methods, Arithmetic and TTRockstars
  • English – Biographies
  • Science – States of matter
  • History/Geography – George Mallory
  • Computing – Stop Frame Animation

📚 Homework This Week

Please make sure your child completes the following homework activities:

📝 Written Homework

  • There will be a small homework given out on the first Monday back
  • Spellings: Complete the spelling sheet and practise the words regularly.
  • Presentation: Please complete all written work neatly using pencil or blue/black pen only. Please do not use felt-tip pens.

📖 Reading

  • Read for at least 15 minutes every day.
  • Please record each reading session in your child’s reading record.
  • Reading records will be checked on Monday.
  • Children are encouraged to complete their AR quizzes after finishing a book.

🎵 TT Rockstars

  • Practise for 10 minutes each day, or
  • Complete two 20-minute sessions during the week.

🔢 Times Tables

  • Continue to practise times tables regularly at home.

📬 Homework Deadlines

  • Mrs Cowell's homework: Due by Friday.
  • Mrs Riddell: Learn spellings for the test on Wednesday.
  • Reading records: Bring them into school every Monday.

The children know where to hand their completed work in.

A little practice often is the best way to make progress — especially with reading, spellings and times tables! 🌟

🔔 Reminders

  • 📖 Reading records should be brought into school every Monday and should include a record of daily reading.
  • ⭐ Reading Challenge: Children who reach 20 reads earn 10 House Points!
