YR1 Looking Back & Forth 20.3.26

We have had a great week in Year 1!

Looking back:

  • We planned our detective narratives, ready for writing next week!
  • We learnt two new sounds: y (ee) and ew (oo/yoo)
  • We looked at the number line to 50 in maths and learnt how to estimate.

Highlights:

  • We had so much fun making our own birdhouses on Thursday and Friday afternoon. We were so creative!
  • We labelled real life plants in science and learnt about what each part of the plant does.

Looking forward:

  • We will write our own narratives in English.
  • We will finish our place value within 50 unit in maths and start our length and height unit.
  • We will learn all about the moon landing in history and look at evidence.
  • We will have our marble jar end of term treat!

Questions to ask at home:

  • What features does a bird house need?
  • What comes after 46? How do you know?
  • Why is an exclamation mark used?
  • What are the parts of a plant? What does each part do?
