YR1 Looking Back & Forth 27.2.26

We have had a lovely first week of term.

Looking back:

  • We finished our maths unit and we did amazingly in our end of unit assessment.
  • We learnt all about deciduous and evergreen trees.
  • We learnt about stable structures in DT and which materials are used for parts of a house.

Highlights:

  • Reading our new book in English - 'Hermelin.'
  • Starting our new history topic and learning all about types of transport, including transport that could get us to the moon!
  • We went on a walk around the school field to find leaves for our observational drawings in science.

Looking forward:

  • Next week, we will learnt all about types of wild and garden flowers in science.
  • We will start to think about the places an explorer might explore in history.
  • We will look at bird houses in DT, ready to design our own in the coming weeks!

Questions to ask at home:

  • What is a detective?
  • Ask the children what materials objects in your home are made from.
  • What is a deciduous tree?
  • What type of transport would you use to go to the city?

Thank you for a great week year 1!

Miss Wood.
