YR1 Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

  • We learnt two new phonics sounds: ue (oo) and ch (sh).
  • We learnt how to count large amounts of objects by sorting them into groups of 10 in maths.
  • We learnt to use the conjunction 'and' to add more detail to our sentences in English.

Highlights:

  • Deisgning our bird houses in DT!
  • Sorting wild and garden flowers in science.
  • Getting new books delivered and reading in our reading area.

Looking forward:

  • Next week we will start to plan our own narratives in English.
  • We will continue our place value within 50 unit in maths.
  • We will label key features of trees and plants in science.
  • We will learn about famous explorers in history.
  • We will make our own birdhouses in DT!

Questions to ask at home:

  • What are the key features of a bird house?
  • Are daisies wild or garden flowers?
  • Can you read these words? blue, glue, chef.

Thank you for a lovely week Year 1.

Miss Wood.
