YR1 Looking Back & Forth
We have had a lovely, sunny week in Year 1!
Looking back:
- We used cubes and balancing scales to measure the mass of objects in maths.
- We learnt two new sounds in phonics: ph (f) and c (s)
- We wrote some amazing character descriptions in English using noun phrases.
Highlights:
- We listened to music as a stimus for our art this week. We created some lovely pieces of expressive art as a class.
- We learnt all about insects in science.
- We learnt about Neil Armstrong's life before he was an astronaut.
- We enjoyed the sunshine! Some of us even did some sunbathing!
Looking forward:
- We will look at capacity and volume in maths next week.
- We will think about the things we would need to pack for a safari in science.
- We will learn all about the events of the moon landing and put them in order in history.
- We will look at making curved lines using lots of different materials in art.
Questions to ask at home:
- Can you read these words? magic, phone, face
- How many legs does an insect have?
- What is an exoskeleton?
- What did Neil Armstrong do before he became an astronaut?
