YR1 Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

  • We have been pratcising lots for our phonics assessments next week. We have worked so hard!
  • We started our new text in English and wrote brilliant sentences using noun phrases. 
  • We have started to learn about fractions in maths, identifying and splitting objects and shapes into halves.

Highlights:

  • We had so much fun on Thursday at our David Attenborough themed afternoon. We made butterflies, butterfly feeders and went on a butterfly hunt!
  • We enjoyed learning about where food comes from in DT

Looking forward:

  • Next week is the Phonics Screening Check - Monday-Wednesday.
  • We will learn about human and physical features of Goostrey in geography.
  • We will start our new science topic 'On Holiday' and think about what we would need to pack for different holidays.
  • We will learn about healthy and unhealthy foods in DT. 

Questions to ask at home:

  • Can you think of some adjectives to describe the sea?
  • When we split into halves, both parts need to be _______.
  • Where does bread come from?
  • How can we help butterflies?
