YR1 Looking Back & Forth

We have had another jam packed week in year 1.

Looking back:

  • We started learning phase 4 phonics.
  • We started to write a retell of the story "Paper Planes."
  • We learnt about greater than, less than and equal to and used the signs <, > and = in maths.

Highlights:

  • We learnt about the 4 countries of the UK and matched their flags to their location on the map.
  • We painted portraits as part of our exhibition prep.
  • We had a visit from Bidlea Dairy who brought in a massive tractor for us to look at. We learnt all about the jobs that it does on the farm and some of us even got to sit inside the wheels!
  • We practised our song for the exhibition.

Looking forward:

  • We are so excited for the exhibition, we can't wait for you to see all of our amazing work!
  • We will finish writing our retells in English.
  • We will look at the number line to 10 in maths and start to order and compare numbers.
  • We will look at the seasons in science - in particular we will learn about the signs of autumn.
  • We will have our well deserved marble jar treat afternoon!
